Digital games are a must in today’s classrooms. They can be integrated at stations in the classroom using Ipads, smartboard, PC, etc.., made into lessons for the whole class on smartboard, Ipad, projector, etc..., or can be used with small groups that are struggling or need a challenge. Games are embedded into our core online testing programs in reading, math, science, and social studies as reinforcing lessons.
I think this because many students struggle with abstract concepts and playing games can allow students the experience and hands on learning needed to help these concepts click.
I have actually witnessed as a resource and have watched many students pick up skills in math, science, reading, physics, social studies, etc…, by playing educational digital games in my computer lab. Many are having fun without realizing they are learning at the same time.
